LinkedIn Green Banner: Setting It Straight

ree

This topic was trending last week on LinkedIn, and a few have asked me about it. Let me be clear:

- YES, use the "Open to Work" banner on LinkedIn!

- NO, it does not make you look desperate!

- WHY use it? Because in-house recruiters DO search for candidates on LinkedIn all.the.time... and you increase your visibility in the search results when your green banner is up.

FYI: This is exactly why 4SIGHT COACHING only employers recruiters (in-house TA recruiters, specifically) as job transition coaches. NO ONE ELSE can give you that "in the hiring trenches" job search advice derived exclusively from being the ones who review direct-to-company applications daily; who conduct the intake and debrief meetings with hiring managers; who facilitate salary negotiations on a regular basis day-after-day, year-after-year. Not resume writers, not career coaches... only recruiters. Resume writers & career coaches can be extremely helpful in the appropriate situation, but when it comes to being coached on how to beat the competition in a tough market, I know I personally am going to want only one type of person: the actual job gatekeeper; the one who's clicking 'yes' / 'no' on the apps on a regular basis, and facilitating the hiring process (the recruiter).

Put that green banner up if you know it's good for you! #opentowork #layoffs #jobsearch #outplacement
