Changing Your Job Search Approach in Q3/Q4

It's autumn, when the leaves turn and Q3/Q4 hiring slows down. For job seekers, this (typically) means less hiring activity. However, it also (typically) means more free time and openness for proactive networking.
Not seeing well-fitting job postings at your target employers? This is often the best time to send those networking messages in hopes of becoming the first person they think of when they DO open the right roles:
"I realize hiring may slow down over the next few months. That said, would you be open to a Zoom coffee chat whenever you have a spare 30 mins in the coming weeks? I believe I have a background that closely aligns with your [organization/function/etc.] when you do hire, and I'd love to casually get on each others' radars when you have some downtime. Are you open to this?"
Give it shot each week, with 5 target employers, over the course of 1 month. You'll land a good few meetings. And when those jobs do open, you'll have an advantage over the competition. Invest some time and energy into that 'long game' in your job search, because when it's time to strike, you end with a short and easy put! #4SightCoaching #JobSearch #JobSearchStrategy #outplacement
